Hechlingen am See
and surroundings

There is plenty to discover in Hechlingen:

Nestled in the Franconian Lake District, the Hahnenkammsee, with its bathing beach and restaurant right on the lakeshore, is a true hidden gem. Mysterious sunken lanes lead to the historic Kappl, a ruined chapel dating back to the Middle Ages, while the Steinerne Rinne (Stone Channel) can be reached directly from the house via well-marked hiking trails. The Enduro Park at the edge of town attracts motorcycle enthusiasts, and the Brombachsee and Altmühlsee lakes are easily accessible by car. We invite you to explore the beautiful landscape of Middle Franconia, discover the sights around Hechlingen, and fully enjoy nature.

The Kappl, Hechlingen's landmark on the Kappl hill

Above Hechlingen am See stand the ruins of the old St. Catherine's Chapel, known locally simply as Kappl. A short walking path leads through the village, past beautifully laid-out sunken lanes and fields, up to the Kappl hill. At the top, you can rest among the old walls and enjoy a good view of the surrounding countryside. Kappl is a special place to find peace and enjoy the view.
